Prior to this puzzle’s publication, Richard Bloss, an information technology professional with two hobby jobs, had only puzzled his night-class chemistry students with the exams he gave them for 41 years, and the baseball players whose games he umpired. Now, thanks to his retirement, the patience of his wife, and much helpful coaching from a certain editor, he is discovering the joy of puzzle construction and hopes readers get a smile out of the results.
