An unexpected hub of global espionage lies deep in the heart of the British countryside. The top-secret Pathfinder Building at Royal Air Force Wyton is Britain’s premier military spy base - a vast hangar that houses Five Eyes experts from Britain, the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The Cambridgeshire base is staffed by hundreds of linguists, scientists, psychologists, geographers, and data specialists who collect and analyze intelligence from across the globe 24/7. Sky News - one of the news organizations given rare access to the Pathfinder Building - describes it as a gray, football pitch-sized room with teams divided into sections and seated at curved desks. Monitors stream satellite and drone feeds while red, glowing digital wall clocks display time zones from Washington to Moscow, Canberra, and Wellington.

‘Dangerous times’‍

RAF Wyton is a UK Strategic Command Station and home to the National Center for Geospatial Intelligence, which provides intelligence support to UK Armed Forces on operations globally. Originally a WWII bomber base, it is now operating in the midst of what officials described as "truly dangerous times”, a pre-war state with the potential for large-scale conflicts in the Middle East, Russia, China, North Korea, and beyond.

Officials noted that China’s hypersonic missiles are capable of traveling at least five times faster than the speed of sound, making them difficult to destroy once launched.
