Anti-corruption activist Alexei Navalny spent much of his adult life in Moscow’s courts and prisons, including when he was jailed for violating parole while recovering from Novichok poisoning. That didn't stop Navalny from leading protests or speaking his mind. Born in 1976, the lawyer, Yale University-educated scholar and opposition politician grew up southwest of Moscow in Obninsk. In 2021, he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by multiple members of Norway’s parliament.
