SPYFLIX finale - Bond style

The 20th and final 2021 SPYFLIX Spotlight Series selection, In the Blink of an Eye, will begin streaming September 19th. The rather impressive narrative short is a James Bond fan film created by and starring 4th & 5th-grade students from Parkview Music Club in Arkansas. Parkview director Kevin Croxton gave us the scoop behind the making of this multi-festival-winning film.

Buzz: killer TV secrets

Krysten Ritter signed on for HBO Max crime series Love And Death. Projector Pictures will produce Charlotte Philby’s espionage trilogy. MI:7’s Hayley Atwell will voice Lara Croft in Netflix’s Tomb Raider anime series. Rumor has it Colin Farrell will star in The Batman‘s Penguin spinoff series by HBO Max. Crime series The Chestnut Man drops September 29th on Netflix.

The fast and the luxurious

On September 25th, prior to the release of Bond film No Time To Die, an exhibit will open in L.A. named Bond in Motion, featuring over 30 vehicles, aircraft, and watercraft used in Bond films. Missing of course will be the famously stolen Aston Martin DB5, an unsolved robbery fans can learn about in The Great James Bond Car Robbery podcast.

Why you're seeing red

Obviously we love a good secret reveal. Well, here’s a revelation of cinematic proportions. Theater curtains and seats are most often the color red, by design. Red is the first color our eyes lose sight of in low light, making it easier to focus on a stage or screen and not be distracted by our surroundings. Who knew?

SPYFLIX Festival wraps on September 25, and this inaugural fest was a thrilling celebration of unique stories about secrets. It was our honor to bring you 22 fabulous finalists, five extraordinary winners (including a 2021 Oscar nominee), and 20 unique Spotlight Series selections - we congratulate them all! Submissions will open November 1st for the 2022 festival. See you there!
