Time for a good cause

SPYSCAPE is thrilled to announce SPYMASTER - a collaboration with horological pioneers Ressence. This limited edition of 21 titanium timepieces features a patented mechanical movement in a dramatic new design. Each watch is also accompanied by an NFT to celebrate its creation and authenticate it on the blockchain. Sotheby’s will introduce the SPYMASTER at their Important Watches auction in Hong Kong on 23 April. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the first SPYMASTER will go to help bring life-changing wishes to children with critical illness, through the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

EXPLORE SPYMASTER

Time for a change

As with cars, Bond’s connection to notable timepieces dates back to Ian Fleming’s original novel, Casino Royale. Fleming took direct cues from his own personal style and passions (he was often seen with a Rolex Explorer on his wrist), writing Bond as a Rolex wearer. Today’s 007 wears an iconic Omega, but 007 hasn’t only worn expensive Swiss timepieces...

Time to dive deep

Rolex dive watches are incredibly popular - selling thousands every year. But if you want the rarest of the rare dive watches, you need to know about a small French company, COMEX. Founded in 1961 to explore the depths of the oceans, COMEX is the NASA of the deep sea. From 1970 to 1997 COMEX worked closely with Rolex, and COMEX divers were issued with Rolex watches - helping Rolex to engineer their famous gas escape valve. The COMEX models had one small difference that sets them apart.

Time for music

Not content with selling millions of records and headlining concerts to fans around the globe, John Mayer has another string to his bow. He is widely considered to be the most influential watch collector in the world.

MAYER'S COLLECTION

Time for polo

In the winter of 1930-1931 Swiss businessman and watch collector César de Trey attended a polo match at a British Army club in India. One officer, who had just broken the glass of his watch in a polo match, challenged de Trey to create a watch robust enough to withstand this dangerous physical sport. De Trey promptly conceived a design where the face could be flipped over (reversed) when required, and thus was born a new category of watch.

THE REVERSO

Time for Mr Genta

Watch aficionados are familiar with some iconic designs such as the Patek Philippe Nautilus, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and the Cartier Pasha. But few know that these designs have one thing in common - they were all designed (amongst many others) by one man, the legendary Gérald Genta.
