In From the Cold (2022)
An American single mom’s life is turned upside down during a European trip when the CIA forces her to confront her long-buried past as a Russian spy with abilities linked to a KGB experiment. Will she come in from the cold? (Netflix)
Killing Eve (2018-2022)
Killing Eve follows intelligence operative Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) and assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer) whose lives are inextricably linked. Will Eve finally catch the psychopath or will the mutual obsession ruin both of them? Season Four is the last in the series so expect a big finale. Snowdrop (2022)
Snowdrop is a Korean spy series that weaves several story strands together over its 16 episodes. Pro-democracy protests have been disrupting Seoul all year as we are introduced to first-year university student Eun Young-ro (Jisoo Kim) and her roommates. Meanwhile, Lee Gang-mu (Jang Seung-jo) works for the Agency for National Security Planning. He is just back from Germany where he was tracking a North Korean spy and is mourning the loss of his partner. (Disney+)
Jack Reacher is a larger-than-life (well, actually 6”, 5’) ex-US Army military police investigator who probes criminal conspiracies, dirty cops, and shady politicians. Midway through the eight-part series, things heat up and Reacher gets in touch with his contact from Homeland Security for backup. (Prime Video)
Slow Horses (2022)
Gary Oldman stars in Slow Horses, a series about dysfunctional British intelligence agents who’ve made career mistakes and must serve in an MI5 purgatory - a workplace dumping ground filled with tedious administrative tasks designed to make them quit. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies with an ensemble cast including Kristin Scott Thomas. The series is based on Mick Herron’s novel Slough House. A Spy Among Friends (2022/23)
Emmy-winner Damian Lewis stars in the six-episode Cold War spy thriller A Spy Among Friends, based on Ben Macintyre’s book. The series follows the defection of British/KGB double agent Kim Philby to Moscow in the 1950s and his long and complex friendship with MI6 colleague Nicholas Elliott, portrayed in the series by Emmy-Winner Guy Pearce. The Old Man (2022)
Jeff Bridges plays former CIA officer Dan Chase who is living off the grid in The Old Man, based on Thomas Perry's book. Chase must deal with unfinished business from his past when he’s targeted by an assassin. (Disney+)
SAS Rogue Heroes (2022)
Dominic West stars as a WWII maverick special forces pioneer inSAS Rogue Heroes, a six-part series from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. The narrative begins in a Cairo hospital in the '40s. A failed training exercise leads British Army officer David Stirling to create a special commando unit which could operate deep behind enemy lines. (Prime Video)
