The Role
The Maintenance Tech will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department and ensure that the museum is well maintained. This role also keeps all facilities systems, including Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, Elevators, and Life Safety in working order.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections: HVAC, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, elevator fireman's service
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment: change filters, change belts, grease bearings
- Complete daily, weekly, and monthly checklists
- Identify issues with and troubleshoot various systems and equipment
- Monitor Building Management System and respond to alarms
- Respond to emergency repair requests
- Light electrical repairs such as replacing lamps and ballasts
- Utilize a computer based work order system
- Maintain inventory of maintenance tools and supplies
- Assist with cleaning when needed
- Monitor fire alarm control panel and ensure abnormal conditions are reported and resolved
- Repair and maintain door hardware, locksets, hinges, etc.
- Light plumbing maintenance and repairs: replace fixtures, clear blockages
- Obtain required certifications
- Complete special projects as assigned
- Assemble furniture and shelving
- Supervise vendors
- Perform daily rounds to identify any maintenance issues
- Assist with large deliveries
- Wall repair and painting
- Assist with trash collection, sorting, and disposal
- Repair and maintain specialized museum equipment
Requirements:
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Ability to work at heights up to 50 feet using a ladder or lift
- Familiarity with building systems
- Technical and mechanical aptitude

Terms and Conditions
Competitive salary based on experience, employment contingent on obtaining a FDNY F-03 indoor place of assembly safety personnel COF within 90 days of hire.
